If you are like many other busy individuals out there who haven’t nailed down some plans for this 4th of July, don’t fret! If you live in or in the surrounding Liberty Lake area, you are in for a treat!
First Launch
This year, some new activities and events will be taking place in this beautiful little town that you won’t want to miss! Beginning Thursday, July 3rd, stretching through Saturday evening, the Liberty Lake community will be celebrating a fun filled weekend of a patriotic parade, music, and of course, fireworks!
The first launch of festivities will start with the Fallen Heroes Patriotic run, Thursday evening at 5:45 pm at the Pavillion park, no registration required. Later on this same night, the Pavillion Park will be hosting a family friendly movie, “Frozen” for the kiddos, which will be a sing-along event! If you aren’t quite familiar with the words to these oh-so-popular songs, no problem! A screen with lyrics will be provided!
The Parade
The Fourth of July Parade has always remained true to a patriotic community and family celebration. Kids decorate bikes, scooters, and wagons in patriotic themes. Golf carts are also included, however, gas powered vehicles are not permitted, as well as pets. Parade organizers give prizes and awards to participants in each category and there is no registration requirement for the march.
Parade organizers recommend arriving at 10:30 am for good parking and head over to get a good view of the parade which is scheduled to kick off at noon. Parking is available on neighborhood streets and at the Liberty Lake Church. If you plan to decorate your own bike for the lineup, arrive no later than 11:30 am in the Alpine neighborhood to be considered for the awards. At this time, awards are decided and the lineup is made. For those running late, there is no need to worry, you can still be a part of the march until noon when the parade begins!
This year, for the first time in over two decades of the Liberty Lake parade history, the Central Valley High school will perform a lineup of 60 members! Organizers wanted the students to experience parade performance and for years, tried to include the CVHS band. The group will also include some alumni and friends! Registration will be required and is available at www.facebook.com/cvmarchingband or email at cvbandsandcolorguard@gmail.com . There will be a short rehearsal at Central Valley on July 3rd to ensure that all participants know the music and can move in a somewhat, orderly fashion. To top off the new additions, “uniform” T-shirts, replicas of the band uniform, can be purchased by participants for $15.
Music
Later Friday evening, The Spokane Band and Bakin’ Phat, playing West Coast swing and “jump blues,” will open the the concert at 6 pm in Pavillion Park. Friends of Pavillion Park will also welcome national touring artist Sammy Eubanks who will bring a mix of blues, country, and rock ‘n roll.
It would be a good idea to bring blankets or fold chairs to enjoy this lovely evening concert. There will be a free shuttle from Liberty Lake Elementary school park beginning at 5pm, parking will also be available at the school. If you’re hungry, Kiwanis will also be providing concession food including hot dogs, hamburgers, cotton candy, and popcorn!
This year, the free concert series will extend through July 5th with the Post-Fourth Music Bash” at 6pm. Local bands will be featured, including Hot Club of Spokane, Sidekick, and Haze. If you would like more information, visit http://www.pavillionpark.org/ .

The evening will light up once again with this fantastic community fireworks show with public view from the Pavillion Park. The show is paid for solely through community donations, no corporate support. The estimated cost is about $12,000 and donations are solicited outside Albertsons and at Farmer’s Market
